The CS 8.3 S masterfully bridges past and future by combining time-honored tube technology with cutting-edge digital innovation. Based on the AVM X-Stream Engine®, it offers comprehensive streaming capabilities while maintaining the warmth and musicality that only vacuum tubes can deliver. The result is a sound that captivates both audiophile purists and modern streaming enthusiasts.
At its heart lies the new S-DAC featuring the highly selected ESS 9038 PRO Double-Quad DAC – with four DACs working in parallel per channel. This sophisticated architecture ensures that all high-resolution formats up to 384/32 PCM and DSD 256 are reproduced with absolute precision and naturalness.
Revolutionary architecture, timeless design
Conceptually, an entirely new masterpiece has emerged with fundamentally reconceived architecture. Numerous additional functions have been added: a high-performance phono stage for MM & MC cartridges with complete app-based customization, HDMI ARC input, an enhanced power supply delivering 550 watts, switchable connection capability for two pairs of speakers, and much more. The RC-X APP controls all functions completely, and the included RC 5 remote with customizable comfort buttons provides traditional tactile control.
This high-performance all-in-one makes device towers and cable clutter obsolete. All modern connections are available, allowing both a turntable and TV to be connected via HDMI ARC alongside analog and digital sources. The screwless aluminum precision housing, only 43 cm wide, impresses with its minimalist elegance, symmetrical design, and new white dimmable OLED display.
Sound without compromise
Compared to its predecessor, there has been a quantum leap in sound quality. The completely new amplifier stages, supported by an enhanced power supply, now deliver an impressive 550 watts (4Ω). Multi-stage filtered mains voltage is supplied to critical sections via the shortest possible paths. The power supply for the left and right analog output stages is even completely separated. An entirely new analog passive volume control ensures absolutely clear sound at all volume levels. Even impedance-critical speakers are handled by the CS 8.3 S with effortless ease.
The newly developed high-performance phono input stage enables connection of MM and MC systems, with specific settings conveniently made via the RC-X app. This ensures perfect analog sound, as analog input signals are processed entirely in the analog domain. The spring-mounted Pure-CD drive minimizes disruptive vibrations for authentic and detailed music reproduction.

The CS 8.3 S is available in standard aluminum silver or black finishes, and upon request as an elegant Cellini version with chrome-plated and hand-polished front plus chrome knobs. Customer-specific configurations are also possible from the manufactory – for example, control knobs can be finished in silver or black.
Since all AVM Ovation devices are handcrafted at the factory in Malsch, and the vast majority of suppliers are also located in the immediate vicinity of our main factory, special requests are welcome. You’re invited to watch our creative process in our ‘making-of’ video.

The Sound of Perfection: AVM Ovation CS 8.3 S Tested
„Good things take time! After switching on, it takes about half a minute for the tube preamplifier to reach operating temperature. Before that, the new AVM Ovation CS 8.3 S cannot be operated. For true high-end, one must take their time and, in this case, watch the display count down. Or take the opportunity to let one’s gaze wander over the flawlessly crafted housing. The deeply engraved AVM logos – a large one on the top of the case and a small one on the front – indicate that this is a product of the highest quality, crafted with care. The front panel, side panels, and lid are made of solid aluminum and are joined together with tongue-and-groove connections. Visible screws can only be found on the back of the device and on the bottom of the housing. This construction effort serves not only aesthetics but also heat dissipation. After all, under the unassuming hood lies a stereo power amplifier that, according to AVM, delivers a robust 550 watts per channel. In this power class, other devices typically come with imposing heat sinks. The Ovation CS 8.3 S does not require that, as it – like its predecessors – derives its output power from a highly efficient Class-D amplifier with a switch-mode power supply. This not only keeps heat generation in check but also the weight. Despite the fact that no material has been spared in the housing, the device weighs only about 15 kilograms, proving that high-end does not necessarily have to be bulky and heavy. AVM devices are designed not to dominate the living room but to integrate discreetly, as Udo Besser, the long-time managing director and owner of the Audio Video Manufaktur, succinctly puts it. Thus, the manufacturer based in the Karlsruhe district has relied on its timeless design with clear lines and a reduced form language for years, which is consistently reflected across all product lines. The numerous models can often be difficult to distinguish at a glance, as the flexible modular system from AVM allows entire series with different equipment variants to be derived with manageable effort.“

High-End Sound Art: The AVM Compact System Tested
„At the beginning of June, the season for fine sounds kicks off with its annual grand event, High End. We felt inspired to tune in a little early. A new device from the Baden-based manufacturer AVM came just in time, an electronic component that, with its chrome-gloss housing, reminded us of the early design traditions of Burmester. Functionally, the device named CS 8.3 S is a complete system: streamer, preamplifier with phono stage, CD player, power amplifier. Everything that ambitious high-enders once stacked in numerous individual components out of purist conviction is contained within this single unit. With its solid exterior, the flat yet hefty construction makes a strong impression, as do the first tactile experiences its operator gains when turning the thick knobs for volume and source selection. It reveals, without a doubt, mechanics of the finest quality. For a test appearance, we connected the system with the SN70 speakers from Fischer & Fischer, which, like all of the manufacturer’s sound transducers, are housed in a heavy slate enclosure. They proved to be excellent partners, effortlessly delivering the entire dynamic range from the more than 500-watt AVM power amplifiers into the listening room while simultaneously reproducing the meticulous attention to detail from the system’s electronic components. This is how high-end should be, we thought, and decided to leave all thoughts about the price tag to a suitable clientele.“
